Elizabethtown Christian Academy, in its endeavors to become an academically challenging school, decided to pursue the CTP4R test in the spring of 2017. The Comprehensive Testing Program (CTP) is a rigorous assessment for high achieving students in areas such as reading, listening, vocabulary, writing, science (online only) and mathematics in grades 1-2. Verbal and quantitative reasoning subtests are also part of the CTP4R beginning in Grade 3.
We feel that it is important to compare ourselves to the most elite independent schools in the nation, to study what they are doing to make their schools and students successful, and to undertake the challenge of finding our own strengths and weaknesses to better prepare our children. We were happy to discover that our mastery percentages were not too far off the mark as compared to other independent schools. While we do have areas of concern, we feel this justifies a change in curriculum as we move into the new year. It also allows us to identify students who need help in a specific area. We have compiled test results in the form of a "report card" in order to be open and honest about where we are as a school and where we hope to be in the next school year. We have included a snapshot of our local county scores from 2016. We only included the % of students who scored a IV or V, which meet Career and College Readiness Standards. This seems to be the only way to adequately compare the % of mastery scores of ECA students.
